I'm in my new home! Whoohoo! It's tons of work still to be done. I got the keys Wednesday last week.
I got electricity and gas for heating and warm water on the same day I got the keys. Well, the gas needed one more day to arrive in the back of beyond.
Finally. I have internet again after waiting 8 days out here in my apartment. You can get so used to such things of the modern world. I love my internet!
And today I got the final message that I'll get the 2nd part of my own capital for paying and now I'm able to pay the one remaining bill for the realtor.
The wooden floors are finished so far with sanding and waxing. I already did that the next day I got here. It's dusty and hard work. Especially the part with sanding the corners and edges of the room with the little sanding machine.
Now I need to do the painting of the walls and ceilings. I already did the entranceroom, guest bathrooom (ceiling) and the livingroom1.
The apartment is way more filthy than it seemed after my first inspection. The bathrooms were in a horrible state. I scrubbed the toilets at least 5 times each. Eeewww! HORRIBLE STATE! The kitchen is the same. I changed the filter of the fume extraction hood and scrubbed that thing for an hour. I think I can open up a shop for used oil...
I washed all the tiles of the bathrooms and changed the shower head and replaced the unspeakably dirty/filthy toilet brushes.
I needed 6 or 7 buckets of water to clean the windows and balcony-doors. Most of them had window-color-paintings on them. It's a real pain in the ass to remove those. People, don't you ever do those on your windows. It doesn't look good - first, and it's VERY hard to remove - second.
The walls in all rooms without tiles are painted with water-resistant color, so it is hard to overpaint them. Entranceroom was pink, livingroom1 yellow, diningroom green, kitchen beige, livingroom2 blue and the bedroom is beige too. I'm very glad that the bathrooms (guest-bathroom and master-bathroom) have tiles...
So far I painted everything in white. As the ceilings are of wood it all needs a bit more light. I'll paint part of the wooden ceilings in white as well.
Haven't touched anything in the bedroom yet (but the balcony-door for cleaning). There's this awful green carpet that needs to be removed and the old bed. I still haven't decided yet what kind of floor I want to put in this room. Well, I need money first.
All of my boxes and smaller stuff are stored now here in Zwiesel in MY garage (gorgeous to say such a thing) It's only the large and heavy stuff that is still stored in Munich. One truck-load.
It's effing hard work to bring all my things up here. It's not only the 2 floors up in the house but like 2 floors up from the garage to the house-door. Good workout. I'm in a bad shape I must admit.
In addition to that I caught a bad cold. I withstood all the months at work and in the cold in my car and with all of my colleages getting ill without anything on me and now that I'm here all alone in my home I get ill. What a pity!
The old man living down in the base is an old grump. He knows everything better and if I try to argue against him he gets pissed. He has a huge apartment in Munich where he lives part of the week. I'm glad that he's not here all the time! I think that it will come to a big crash between us one day, but I'll keep myself together and let him be - for now.
In the middle there's an old woman aged 95. She's a nice one but profoundly deaf.
It's pretty silent in the house. I'm able to hear some things of the old lady when she watches TV or so, but that's it. There's nearly no traffic around here. Heavenly!
People in Zwiesel are very nice and polite. At least those in the shops. I've never been served that well and individually in a hardware shop in my whole life before. Well, I guess it must be, because I already left a very huge amount of money in that shop.
I still need more paint, more LED-lamps and then when I'm ready renovating inside I'll need some flowers and herbs and other plants for the balconies (east and west) and the little roof-terrace (south).
I'll post pics, when I have time. Promise!
I would like to send a huge THANK YOU and big hugs to Sean ♥ and Petra ♥. Without their company and comments I would have been lost in frustration and work overload. Days are a lot more bearable with people like them around. Even if they are far away.
