I had a very wonderful weekend in the mountains. I got out all packed up in the late morning on Friday and drove by train to Lenggries. Hiked up a mountain all afternoon up to 4900ft. On the peak I had a little rest and then hiked again up to another peak nearby up to nearly 5100ft. I stayed beneath the top for my first night out. It was so very lovely there and very calm and solitary. All those days out there were paved with so very beautiful and spectacular views, sunrises and sunsets. I haven't had to use the mosquito net, so I had an unhindered look into millions of stars above me. So much more stars to see as in the big cities. Just amazing! Second day I made three more peaks. The highest one was up to 5250ft. I stayed at this height plus/minus 1300ft, so it wasn't much of hour-long climbing up or down. The second night I stayed on a peak directly, with a stunning view down to the valleys and up to a higher peak in the neigbourhood. (posted two pics on twitter) Disadvantage was, that it got a bit wet from morning dew as it was an open area and all the noise of the valley was coming up to the peak. That valley had a little village with a bigger street going throug it. And there must have been a club or party or something like that, as there was the sound of techno beats the whole night as well. The night before there wasn't such noise as the valley below was uninhabitated. Still the night was beautiful with less sleep but the most amazing starry night beneath the milky way. Sunday morning I only went back down to Lenggries after my breakfast and masses of people were meeting my way as it was a sunny Sunday and everybody seemed to have the wish to get out in the last sunny days of the year, out into the mountains or to the Oktoberfest, (it ended yesterday - I'm very glad) I guess. I think that it must have been very crowded on the streets and autobahns. It was full on the train as well, but I got a seat and listened to my music and read in my bible. Got back home at 5pm.
Planned to race that 10k race next morning. But I wasn't able to sleep. I guess I got maybe 1 or 2 hours. I had headaches as well. Took 8 pills against the pain from Sunday afternoon on. So, I didn't make it to the race which would have meant to get up at 6am and cycle to the S-Bahn at half past 7 for the race starting at 10.
There are more 10k races to come in our region. So, I think I just sign up for another one.
Instead of racing I went back to bed and then vacuumed my appartment, and then got out into a tiny little park with some orange-spiced cake and had a calm afternoon on a bench with eating cake and knitting on a slipover.
PT called me yesterday in the evening. He took part in another 10k race and won. I'm so proud of him. He'll race next weekend again at the Munich marathon (just the 10k race which is going on there too). We'll meet next Monday. Hopefully then, I'll be healthier.
