I made it through a marathon. Never thought that I would be able to finish any.
My time was pretty bad. It took me 4h34min. I was feeling totally good the first 24km but afterwards it was going down. I walked twice at km35 and km40. It took me 2h for the 1st half and 2.5h for the 2nd half. Next time (if ever!) I'll go more slow for the first half. Felt horrible afterwards. It felt like there was no muscle or bone in my body that didn't hurt. Especially my back hurts a lot, even now. My muscles are ok now after a little rest just a bit of soreness in my upper legs.
Well, the course wasn't easy, but very hilly, but also very scenic. I think there were about 1500ft in elevation height + the same in downwards. I don't think that I would have finished the race if it hadn't been that beautiful. Weather was also perfect. No rain and moderate temperatures.
The next race is in 2 weeks. 10k with an extra of 2h of power-cycling right before the race. I'm curious how slow I'll be there. Good training for the worlds hardest Triathlon in August, huh?
My goal is to finish the Norseman in under 15h. 1h (3.8km) for swimming, 7h (180km) for cycling and 7h (42.2km) for running. It has an elevation height of 15000ft. This is going to hurt a lot more than the pure marathon...
